II. SOCIAL EVENTS

Social Events

A. End of Semester Party: "NYC Prep"

The marquee social event of SULS's first semester calendar is almost here! The Informal will start at 8pm on Friday 25 June (the last day of exams!) at Crystal Bar, GPO Sydney, No. 1 Martin Place.

Reward yourself for all those hours spent in the books with an amazing night in the lavish surrounds of the GPO Building. In keeping with the glamorous feel of the venue, the theme for this year's Informal is "New York City Prep". Let your imagination run wild! (Hint: think gossip girl!)

The ticket price of $40 for USYD law students (and $47 for everyone else) is inclusive of entry and drinks all night (including spirits), and if you get peckish you'll also be able to purchase a selection of GPO's delicious delicacies at reduced prices.

Tickets are now on sale, available online only at http://www.trybooking.com/FID. Numbers are strictly limited, and without doubt they will sell out. So get in early to avoid disappointment! Keep an eye on the Law School noticeboards and your email inboxes for updates on ticket sales.

As this event will be held on licensed premises, this is an over 18s event and ID will be checked by the venue.

For those that are interested, there will be an optional fundraising component to the event. To donate, please go to http://www.everydayhero.com.au/no_standing.

Do I have to be a runner to join in?

III. LAW REVUE CREW

Interested in being part of crew for the 2010 Law Revue? Please send an application containing your name, current year of law, phone number, email address, and one paragraph outlining any previous crew-related experience, and why you would like to be involved, to kate_lindeman@hotmail.com. Please write 'CREW 2010' in the subject line. Applications close at 5 pm on the 2nd of July. If you have already indicated your interest to a member of the Law Revue executive, it is nonetheless essential that you submit a written application, as we need written confirmation of your interest.

Please note that crew involves a significant time commitment, including two full weekends, and the whole of show week, where on-going attendance will be expected.

IV. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR QUEER OFFICER

Applications for the appointed executive position of Queer Officer are now open.

It is envisaged the SULS Queer officer will play an active role in facilitating student engagement with queer issues in the law and also a reactive role to support queer-identifying law students where appropriate.

Because Queer Officer is an executive position, applicants should be ready and willing to assist with other SULS portfolios, in addition to their own. This is an opportunity to be involved in the operation of one of the largest student societies on campus and to assist with our exciting plans for Semester 2. All interested students are encouraged to apply. The present SULS Executive will appoint a student to the position on the basis of merit.

The closing date for applications is 5pm, Monday 19 July.

Applications must be comprised of a cover letter (maximum one-page) and an up-to-date curriculum vitae. The cover letter must address your capacity to bear the key responsibilities of the position. Applications should be sent to secretary@suls.org.au. In the subject title, please insert "Application for Queer Officer." Please include your contact details.

The SULS 2010 Executive looks forward to receiving your application!

Additionally, we are keen to hear from any students with a particular interest in arrangement or composition.
