The isolation measures imposed to flatten the curve of the novel Corona virus have been difficult for everyone. However, as the demand for access to women's shelters skyrockets, it is clear that the demand to #StayAtHome has disproportionately affected wom*n and children at risk of violence in their own homes.
More generally, isolation measures have contributed to the breakdown of relationships, and further blockages in the Family Court. It has also raised a number of issues for children at risk, and in out of home care.
Importantly, we will also be considering how students with legal knowledge can empower First Nations children and their families in the face of historic and continuing policies that have marginalised Australia's Indigenous population.
