Law School Basics: Online Exams


Online exams are something new and stressful for all of us! To hopefully provide a bit of clarity into the new form of assessments, SULS is inviting three speakers from Faculty to share any tips and insights as to how we can conquer these exams!

The series will run as a Q&A panel on Zoom:

Professor Rita Shackel - Associate Dean Education
Rita is a graduate of the University of Sydney holding undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in law, science, psychology and education. Her academic awards include the 'Jones Memorial University Medal' for most outstanding academic and professional record. She has worked as a lawyer, advocate, policy adviser, researcher, academic and consultant in a range of settings including in academe, government and in non-governmental organisations. She has served on numerous government, institutional and professional committees, and delivered professional and capacity building training and continuing education programs to legal practitioners, judicial officers, police, and health and welfare professionals nationally and internationally.

Dr Kevin Walton - Associate Dean Professional Law Programs
Kevin is a senior lecturer at the University of Sydney Law School and has been here since 2003. He currently teaches several units in jurisprudence and his research focuses on issues of political obligation and questions of methodology in legal philosophy.

Dr Gemma Turton - Senior Lecturer
Gemma joined the University of Sydney Law School in 2019 as a Senior Lecturer, having previously worked at the University of Leicester (UK). Her research expertise is in causation in negligence and her monograph, Evidential Uncertainty in Causation in Negligence, was published by Hart Publishing in 2016. Gemma’s broader research and teaching interests are in the law of obligations, with a particular focus on the intersections between tort law and other areas of law including the law of property, criminal law, medical law, and human rights law.
