Put simply, this means that our lawyers work towards becoming industry experts which allows us to provide a client-first approach. From day one, you can work with a colleague in a different practice and sector group to the one you are rotating in for both local and global clients.
Clerkship program
A summer clerkship with Bird & Bird is much more than just work experience. It's an opportunity to discover your potential and kick-start your career in law, taking you straight to the heart of a global law firm.
Summer clerks usually undertake rotations in two of our practice groups in the Sydney office, with each rotation lasting 4 weeks. You are likely to get exposure to most of our other practice groups by attending meetings and events during your time with us. All of our summer clerks enjoy a paid break over the Christmas and New Year period.
Once you have successfully completed a summer clerkship with us, we may have additional opportunities available to you depending on where you are in your academic career.
What we are looking for
Every summer clerk, graduate, or lawyer we select has the potential to be both a leader of our global firm and a recognised leader in their chosen field of law. If you have demonstrated academic excellence, combined with great “people skills”, enthusiasm, leadership and agility in problem solving, you will flourish with us.
